We will be meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the entrance in Woodland Way and the first task for the day will be to chainsaw and clear a large tree blocking the middle path located near the last coppiced area. Vegetation encroaching or overhanging paths also needs to be cut back and cleared. It is also intended to start the path surfacing work by identifying where the MOT No.1 needs to be dumped ready for raking - please see details below.
PATH SURFACING WORK:
On Friday 22 May 40 tons of MOT No.1 (Limestone Scalpings) is due to be delivered to the recently prepared storage area located at the Woodland Way entrance and the surfacing of the top path is scheduled to start on Wednesday 27 May with work continuing on Saturday 30 May and Sunday 31 May.
Additional path surfacing work is also provisionally scheduled for the following dates:
Saturday 6 June.
Sunday 7 June.
Wednesday 10 June when a team of TCV volunteers will also be helping with the work.
Thursday 11 June.
Work Day: Sunday 14 June.
Any help you can give on the 27 May, 30 May and 31 May no matter how much or how little is always very much appreciated - an hour or two of your time can make all the difference as to whether the task(s) planned for those days get done. As usual FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the above tasks but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers for the work day and shovels/spades and metal rakes for the path surfacing) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks but FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed.
Reminders for the other path surfacing days will be e-mailed nearer the time but in the meantime please would you let me know if you will be able to make any of the three work days mentioned above (chrispm_parker@hotmail.co.uk) - many thanks.
