We will again be meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the entrance in Woodland Way and will be continuing with preparation of the coppiced site ready for the planting of 160 whips with the help of a team of 12 CGi volunteers on Wednesday 5th March. Thanks to a tremendous chainsawing effort by Roger and Mick the felling work has now been completed and the priority will be rake and clear the ground, lay some Hazel rods and finish the construction of the dead hedge.
As usual FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the above tasks but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks although FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed.
CGi VOLUNTEER DAY:
AS PREVIOUSLY ADVISED, A TEAM OF 12 VOLUNTEERS FROM CGi WILL BE JOINING US ON WEDNESDAY 5TH MARCH TO HELP PLANT WHIPS IN THE NEWLY COPPICED AREA AND THEY WILL AGAIN BE SUPPLYING THE WHIPS FOR PLANTING.
MORE INFORMATION REGARDING THE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE DAY WILL BE E-MAILED NEARER THE TIME BUT IT WOULD BE HELPFUL TO HAVE AS MANY FoF MEMBERS AS POSSIBLE ATTEND THE DAY TO ASSIST THE CGi VOLUNTEERS WITH THE PLANTING.
Please would you let me know if you'll be able to make the work day (chrispm_parker@hotmail.co.uk) – many thanks.
