We will be meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the picnic tables/benches located along the top path where Sherwood Oaks Field starts and the main tasks for the day will be as follows:
(1) Scythe/cut back the vegetation from around the various picnic tables/benches located along the top path running parallel to the fence line.
(2) Scythe/cut back the vegetation encroaching the top path along the fence line. Some sections of the path are okay but others do need some work particularly the section leading past the pond to Foxley Road which has become very overgrown.
(3) Some branches hanging low over the path need cutting back - there are 3 or 4 large branches from one particular tree which are now touching/overhanging the field fence.
(4) The pond also needs clearing work done.
(5) The scallop path leading down to the bottom path needs scything/mowing and raking as do some of the other secondary paths bordering Sherwood Oaks Field.
Any help you can give with the above no matter how much or how little is always very much appreciated - an hour or two of your time can make all the difference as to whether the task(s) planned for the day get done. As usual FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the task but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks but FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed.
Please let me (chrispm_parker@hotmail.co.uk) know if you will be able to make the work day - many thanks.
