We will be meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the entrance in Woodland Way and the tasks for the day will be as follows:
(1) To split the sections of felled timber stacked at the Firewood Bagging area ready for conversion into split logs when needed.
(2) To check the chainsawed logs currently stacked under tarpaulins to see if they are now dry enough/suitable for processing into split logs when more bags are required.
(3) To sort out the large number of tree guards located in the storage area and decide which ones should be kept and which ones should be sent for recycling.
(4) Depending on the weather between now and the work day it may be necessary to water the recently planted 20 DED Elms. As high temperatures are predicted with no rain forecast this will be a priority task.
Any help you can give with the above no matter how much or how little is always very much appreciated - an hour or two of your time can make all the difference as to whether the task(s) planned for the day get done. As usual FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the task but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks but FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed.
Please would you let Roger Crabb (rjcrabb@talktalk.net) know if you will be able to make the work day - many thanks.
