Work day: 12/04/2026 (Sunday)

1) Dutch Elm Disease resistant Elm cultivars have been planted along the borders of Sherwood Oaks Field and now need to be individually fenced to protect them against browsing by deer (deer tracks have been spotted very near by). We will therefore be meeting at the Burwood Avenue entrance to the Wood at 10am to carry out this task.

2) If any time is left after completing the above there are number of fallen trees and branches which need to be tidied up.

Any help you can give on the day no matter how much or how little is always very much appreciated - an hour or two of your time can make all the difference as to whether the task(s) planned for the day get done. As usual FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the above tasks but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks but FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed.

Please would you let me know if you will be able to make the work day (bessant@mac.com) - many thanks.

Kind regards,

Bill
