The tasks planned for the day are : Planting 15 Hornbeam and 15 Field Maple whips in the area near the Rhododendrons. The whips have yet to be delivered but hopefully will arrive in time for the work day. Alison says there are currently only 7 or 8 bags of firewood left in store which may have gone by next Sunday so we’ll need to bag up another 30 bags. Following a telecon with Anthony this morning, Anthony suggests splitting sections of the smaller Ash felled near the Firewood Bagging Area and stacking them on pallets under a tarpaulin at the rear of the Firewood Bagging Area to keep them separated from the larger sections located opposite the Bagging Area. Brushcutting an area along the top path close to the dead hedge where wood chips can be tipped to be later wheelbarrowed and spread around the recently planted Hazel whips as a mulch. As usual FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the above tasks but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks but FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed.
