Work day: 28/08/2024 (Wednesday)

We will be meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the entrance in Woodland Way and the main task for the day will be to brushcut and rake John's (picnic) Glade and cut back/clear any vegetation encroaching the Junipers located there. Depending on how long that takes we may also be able to brushcut and rake the slope leading down from the Information Board towards the Ancient Beech tree to improve the view of the tree and hopefully encourage Bluebells to start spreading there. A pile of small branches stacked on the slope could also be moved to one side into a more concealed area to further enhance the view. The top path and most of the middle path were walked on the last work day and any vegetation encroaching or hanging low over the paths was cut back but the middle path still needs to be finished and the bottom path still needs to be done.

As usual FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the above tasks but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks although FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed.

Please would you let me know if you'll be able to make the work day (chrispm_parker@hotmail.co.uk) – many thanks.
