We will be meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the entrance to the wood in Woodland Way and the main task for the day will be to clear up the large Cherry tree which was felled on the last work day as well as an Ash tree which had fallen on to a Hazel stool on the right of the felled Ash and Cherry trees.
A tree which has fallen over the path leading down past the badger sets also needs to be cleared - Mick knows the exact location.
Other tasks it may be possible to do time permitting:
Brushcut and clear a path between the picnic tables/benches located in John's (Picnic) Glade.
Brushcut and clear a path through the long grass in the Charcoal Glade so the picnic tables/benches can be accessed from the top path.
Cut back any vegetation from around the individual whips located in the first coppiced area to ensure they are not becoming overgrown.
Create a new Stag Beetle Loggery.
Assess the possibility of constructing a covered area along the top path near the power point.
FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the above tasks but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks but FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed.
Please would you let Roger Crabb know if you'll be able to make the work day (rjcrabb@talktalk.net) – many thanks.
